These monochromatic images are what is deemed "IN" and very "NOW" in fashion photography. This is beautifully captured by the visual artist Micaela Rossato.* Her work is very simplistic but dramatic. This comes from her play on the lack of colour in the images. The quiet hues of black and white seem more interesting than a rainbow of loud colours. Its effortlessness is its true quality and U.S.P. (Unique Selling Point)
Everyone knows its harder to be minimalistic because it requires a very refined ability to see beyond the subject matter; as beyond it, holds the real secret, the intricate understanding of layout and composition.
*New York based photographer Micaela Rossato, was born in Corodoba, Argentina before moving to New York to study Sculpture and Installation at Cooper Union.
While studying in New York, Micaela began using photography in her installations and fell in love with the two dimensional and temporary aspects that she saw in photography.
After assisting Raymond Meier, Micaela has been shooting for herself creating inspirational fashion and beauty work for a range of Editorial and Advertising clients.

Overall impact:
When looking at how fashion approaches photography it is interesting to see how art and consumerism are able to co-exist. They are almost joined at the price tag. This forces me to question where the line of art/photography is drawn for the sake of financial reward. I can only assume that one dictates to the other at different times; the art will become the focus if it is what the market wants, and as well, the fashion will dominate the art if the market demands it.
Micaela Rossato manages to satisfy both needs and proves Less is more. On paper at least.
The concept of 'Less is More', unfortunately, is what we, as designers are experiencing in a highly competitive industry. There is a deficiency in designers who can do all and more.
In a time where it seems better to be a 'jack of many trade than the master of one' - to know a bit about a lot of things than a lot about one thing... Less is no longer more in reality.
